This collection contains materials relating to Professor McKee's personal life. It contains papers, programs, diplomas, teacher's certificates, membership cards, and a World War II war ration book. Additionally, it contains photographs from throughout her life, including portraits of her parents. The collection also contains two high school state music association state contest pins dated 1941, now located in the University Archives Artifact Collection.

Eleanor McKee was born in 1924 in Shannon City, Iowa. She received her B.A. (1944) in Spanish at Drake University, and her M.L.S. (1952) at the George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee. She taught public school in Orient, Iowa (1946-1947), then at the Southern Christian Institute in Mississippi (1947-1949).
